Your Key Responsibilities

The KAM has responsibility for the management of relations and development of business with the Key Account for a specific region (or country). Its most important functions are:
-    Transparency concerning all relevant procedures and the acquisition of new business with the KA in the region (or country)
-    Price negotiations in conjunction with Sales within the predefined scope (LPP)
-    Observation of competitors and a regional contribution to the customer strategy for the KA
-    Identification and documentation of the KA customer requirements

The Key Account Manager:
-    is responsible for the acquisition of new business with the KA in the region (or country)
-    develops a regional strategy for business with the KA
-    negotiates price by agreement with the GKAM together with Sales
-    ensures transparency concerning the customer's target prices and competitors' prices 
-    together with Sales, checks incoming RFQs for completeness and plausibility
-    is responsible for following up quotations given to the KA 
-    coordinates in-house exhibitions and presentations, top management events and meetings
-    observes technological trends and requirements and the activities of the competition
-    identifies and records the KA customer requirements
-    carries out the sales planning with regard to the KA in the region
-    executes and coordinates cost reduction measures with regard to products for the KA
-    carries out the performance review of Schaeffler with the KA
-    together with Sales/GKAM, settles warranty claims and reviews commercial aspects
-    informs affected departments of customer audits, and prepares for them
-    escalates delayed deliveries, bottlenecks, DOH, etc.
-    informs the customer of transfers of production
-    performs all the activities of a GKAM if there is no GKAM in place

Your Qualifications

Required Education & Experience

  • University degree, ideally with a technical background (e.g. mechanical/electrical engineering, business administration and engineering) 
  • Highly developed understanding of business processes 
  • Solid experience in sales, key accounts or program management, ideally with experience in the automotive or supply industries 
  • Experience in working in a multi-national team 
  • Strong sales personality 
  • Strong business English skills, confident using the language of the global key account 
  • Willingness to travel
  • Assertiveness and capacity to negotiate: Intent on achieving a balance between the stakeholders and being able to direct them 
  • Goal orientation: Recognizes and respects the motives of his internal and external business partners and always keeps an eye on his own goals 
  • Entrepreneurial thinking: Thinks across divisional boundaries and respects the interests of the entire automotive division 
  • Social and intercultural skills: Excellent skills in building up and maintaining relationships and networks 
  • Moderation and presentation skills: Can moderate between different interest groups and is strong in making target-group oriented speeches and presentations 
  • Analytical: Obtains market and competitive information, understands relationships and assesses them 
  • Strong conceptual skills: Recognizes growth opportunities and develops implementation strategies Required Knowledge
  • Experience in the sale of technical products 
  • Very good knowledge of automotive development and production planning processes 
  • In-depth knowledge in the areas of - please fill out accordingly - (to be developed if necessary) 
  • Solid foundations in business processes, in particular costings, and cost accounting 
  • Legal knowledge in contract law

Languages

  • Native level of Japanese (able to complete tasks in Japanese with customers who do not communicate in English)
  • Business level of English (intermediate and advanced)
