Your Key Responsibilities

Position Purpose

This position was created to comprehensively manage electronic engineering aspects of targeted automotive system products, acting as the primary technical interface for customers and ensuring close cooperation with the lead development location. The role focuses on driving technical acquisition, supporting system design, and coordinating global project communication for electronic and mechanical components. The ultimate goal is to promote platform solutions to Japanese Original Equipment Manufacturers (JOEM), ensuring successful project execution from acquisition through series development.


Key Responsibilities

Technical Acquisition & Business Development

  • Promote automotive system products and platform solutions to JOEMs.
  • Drive technical concept definitions for electronic and mechanical components.
  • Lead local engineering quotations, including R&D effort estimation, in collaboration with JOEMs.

Systems Engineering & Project Management

  • Lead and manage electronic and mechanical topics for projects as local lead and key customer interface.
  • Support global lead teams during acquisition and series development phases.
  • Develop project plans and timelines to ensure timely delivery of system engineering projects.
  • Coordinate other disciplines if no Technical Project Manager is present.

Customer & Global Team Communication

  • Act as project lead for electronic/mechanical development topics, aligning with global project teams.
  • Coordinate customer technical communication, including schedules, deliverables, and progress.
  • Organize and lead internal and external technical meetings focused on system products.

Technical Requirements & Specifications

  • Work directly with customers to interpret and define technical requirements.
  • Translate customer needs into precise specifications for product development.
  • Confirm understanding and solutions with customers and global teams.

Engineering Problem-Solving

  • Resolve engineering challenges through negotiation, reuse of platform solutions, and compromise.
  • Ensure solutions meet both customer and company objectives.

Quality & Process Compliance

  • Apply engineering knowledge to support R&D activities.
  • Contribute to the development and management of E/E requirements based on system requirements and domain standards.
  • Develop standard technical E/E solutions that comply with state-of-the-art practices and mitigate design risks.
  • Apply provided E/E development processes and coordinate with internal/external partners for E/E elements.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and coordinate technical activities within the system development team (estimation, planning, task assignment, alignment).
  • Monitor team dynamics to maintain motivation and work-life balance.
  • Foster an open, collaborative culture based on trust and respect.
  • Provide coaching and cross-support in electronic/mechanical engineering to enhance team capabilities.

Optional Scope Extension

  • Develop product strategies tailored to JOEM needs.
  • Facilitate strategic engineering discussions to drive innovation.
  • Enhance development processes for cutting-edge design and testing.

Additional Duties

  • Perform tasks assigned by the superior that are related to the position’s responsibilities.

Your Qualifications

  • Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
    • Proven experience in systems engineering and project management for automotive electronics.
    • Strong understanding of E/E development processes and standards.
    • Excellent communication skills in English and Japanese.
    • Ability to lead technical teams and manage complex projects.
    • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
