Your Key Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced Automation Engineer to lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable automation systems supporting multiple Schaeffler manufacturing plants in China. 

•    Requirement Gathering: Collaborate closely with Schaeffler plant stakeholders to understand and analyze business and operational requirements for automation projects.
•    Technical Solution Design: Lead the creation of detailed technical solutions for scalable automation systems (including PLC, robotics, sensors, vision systems, and mechanical components).
•    Project Management: Manage timelines, resources, and priorities to ensure successful automation system implementation.
•    System Integration: Develop and oversee integration of control systems with mechanical components, ensuring seamless function and reliability.
•    Troubleshooting & Support: Assist plant teams in diagnosing and resolving technical issues related to automation systems swiftly to minimize downtime.
•    Ownership & Documentation: Take full ownership of assigned automation subsystems including design modifications, updates, and continuous improvements.  Maintain clear technical documentation.
•    Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with production, maintenance, quality, and IT teams to support smooth installation, commissioning, and scaling of automation solutions.•

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in automation engineering, preferably in automotive manufacturing or industrial production environments.
  • Proven expertise with PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or similar), HMI/SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols.
  • Experience with robotics integration, vision systems, motion control, and sensor technologies.
  • Strong mechanical understanding and experience with mechanical design and integration in automated systems.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting complex electrical/mechanical control systems on the plant floor.
  • Familiarity with automation standards, safety regulations, and quality management systems (e.g., ISO, Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with strong ownership mindset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in Mandarin and English, capable of working across cultures and teams.
  • Willingness to travel between Schaeffler plants within China region as needed.
  • Proficient with CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and programming/software tools for automation design and simulation.
  • Knowledge of Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing technologies.
