Your Key Responsibilities
The Accelerator is responsible for participating in experiential, mentoring, and formal training to prepare them for their final placement role in one of the following locations: Fort Mill, Cheraw, Wooster, Troy, Joplin, Danbury, Stratford, Puebla, or Irapuato.
The Accelerated Leadership Program is a 2-year training program that provides hands-on experience for Engineers (or business professionals where applicable) interested in a specialized and/or leadership position. This individual works hands-on with a group of employees in one of the various departments in Schaeffler plants and offices in North America every six months (four rotations) based on their career path; Automotive Manufacturing Leadership, Industrial Manufacturing Leadership, Research & Development, Quality, Purchasing.
The Accelerator will have a defined set of Learning Goals that will be coordinated between the mentor and the rotational department’s management within their career path. The Accelerator will participate in one week of job shadowing known as “Week-in-the-Life” and will schedule a report-
out for the ALP Manager, Rotational Supervisor, Mentor, and other plant or functional leadership. At the end of each rotation, the Accelerator will present the major accomplishments from their rotation to the executive board, rotational supervisors, mentors, path leaders, and all other participants that attend Executive Presentations.
The Accelerator will be evaluated at the 3-month and 6-month marks of each rotation by their Rotational Supervisor via the Rotational Experience Database. After completing a self-assessment, the Accelerator and Rotational Supervisor will discuss performance based on Schaeffler’s Employee and Leadership Essentials and specific competencies.
The Accelerator will participate in various trainings covering Leadership, Product Knowledge, and other trainings as needed for their career path. All Accelerated Leadership Program members will attend the annual conference that includes networking, team building, and guest speakers.
This position is required to know and understand the current specifications of the Quality Policy and procedures, as well as the Safety and Environment Policy and procedures and contribute to the achievement of the company objectives. In addition to the duties listed above, the position holder must carry out tasks assigned by his supervisor that are essentially related to his duties.
Your Qualifications
Technical:
- At least two co-op or internships required
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
- Exhibits Strong mathematical, technical, organization and problem-solving skills
- Basic knowledge of Statistical Process Control
- Must be able to read and interpret drawings (i.e. GD&T)
- Basic knowledge in the use of gauging
- Basic understanding of testing, analysis, and design verification plan and report process
- Experience in manufacturing environment required (Manufacturing Leadership Path)
Interpersonal:
- Leadership experience or qualities preferred
- Ability to move every six months
- Must be Self Directed
- Ability to present in front of customers, management team, etc.
- Exhibits Strong written and verbal communication skills
Educational:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or higher education
- 3.0 GPA
- Good understanding of engineering principles – materials, design, dynamics, structures, manufacturing
