Your Key Responsibilities

  • Perform dynamic modelling of mechatronics systems, control design and the coupling of numerical and physical systems applied to the mobility and robotics domain;
  • Develop hardware and software control architectures to support Schaeffler R&D activities. This includes developing, testing, troubleshooting software and verification procedures;
  • Develop engineering requirements, specification and validation criteria for high-quality research using combinations of physical experiments, sensing, numerical simulations as well as data analytics to develop integrated physical-numerical modelling, simulations and applications;
  • Survey literature and implement state-of-the-art techniques and tools to solve challenging problems;
  • Collaborate with industry partners, affiliated research institutes and other relevant stakeholders to contribute to grant proposals for research funding consistent with the strategic goals of SHARE at NTU.
  • Expected allocation of time and resources: 70% to support research and development activities, 15% to support project management for SHARE at NTU research projects, 15% administrative activities (purchase, lab coordination) for SHARE at NTU
  • Initiate discussions at the ambiguous front-end of innovation management projects with stakeholders across all levels (Schaeffler management teams, NTU faculty, NTU undergraduates)
  • Actively engages University Faculty members and teaching staff to share ideas
  • Lead and facilitate Schaeffler’s discussions with NTU on innovation research and projects
  • Coordinate subsequent patent registration and submission with partners
  • Translate product and technology leads into early-stage innovation projects
  • Partner Schaeffler business leaders in assessing commercialization opportunities from innovation leads
  • Serve as an active technical mentor to junior members in SHARE at NTU

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor, Masters or PhD Degree in Electrical / Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineering with minimum 3 years of relevant industry experience;
  • Strong control engineering fundamentals in classical and modern control methodologies. Preferably R&D experience with competent knowledge in system dynamics application
  • Familiar with system analysis and system modeling, particularly mechanical system dynamics, vibration, thermal process, motor, sensors, and drive system;
  • Passion for technical challenges to provide creative solutions to complex engineering system;
  • Good hand-on problem solver with an analytical mind and attention to detail.
  • Possesses experience in design and process modelling which has been translated into applications or prototypes
  • High level of comfort in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Possesses excellent facilitation and interpersonal skills. 
  • A self-starter and independent individual who possesses a high level of proactiveness in soliciting feedback and ideas
  • Innovative risk-taker who possesses a “can-do attitude“ and consistently pushes boundaries to test new ideas
  • Demonstrates a high level of openness towards others and takes people along when incubating ideas
