 R&D E-mobility - eMag Engineer

Design and Analysis of the electromagnetic (eMag) aspect of electric motors for traction/automotive applications. 

Educational Prerequisites

• Post-graduate (M.Sc or Ph.D.) degree or specialization in Electromagnetics or related field
• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Mechanical or related Engineering; alternatively, a degree in Physics or related Natural Science.
• Advanced English - TOEFL min. Score of ITP 585 / iBT 84, CEFR level B2-C1 (or equivalent)

Technical Prerequisites

• Very good knowledge of the design and calculation of electric motors and magnetic circuits as well as a good understanding of electric drive systems
• Knowledge of eMag calculation/simulation software tools (Ansys Maxwell and Motor-CAD) and methods
• Ideally knowledge of the manufacturing process of electric motors
• Ability to understand complex systems and to systematically consider physical causal relationships
• Fundamental understanding of the automotive powertrain, mainly hybrid concepts and fully electric drives
• Knowledge of the Product Development Process (A-SPICE, desirable)
• Knowledge of problem-solving techniques

Responsibilities

• Conception/E-Mag Design / Layout of traction e-motors as well as their system architecture combined with the optimization regarding function, system integration and costs.
• Ensuring / Confirming / Validating the design through detailed analyzes of the electromagnetic, thermal, acoustic and mechanical behavior of the electric motor.
• Coordination of the requirements with the departments involved in the interfaces from mechanical design, testing, industrialization and system development.
• Further development of the e-motor product portfolio for flexible use in various customer systems.
• Further development of tools, methods and processes for maximum quality and efficiency of the development process.
• Presentation and discussion of the results with customers and management.
• Creation of the development-accompanying documents according to the process.
