Your Key Responsibilities

Set up a Engineering team structure based at Hosur to design and develop Schaeffler product portfolio (clutch, release system, bearings, engine parts, chassis parts, etc)

Coordinate with local and HQ counterparts to acquire the product design competancy to be independent in 1-2 years

Optimize the product design guide line standards for VLS customers to improve the productivity and profitability.

Plan and prepare short, mid & long term engineering roadmap to support local, regional and Global projects.

Prepare and present the plan to management team for it's formal approval and to decide on next step

Provide the support to SMT plant team to set up a engineering function and testing set up for efficient localization of existing parts and carry out new projects for SEA markets

Guide the team functionaly and administratively w.r.t. design guidelines, concepts & calculations; analyze design deviations & change notices; design standardization; failure analysis/RPA; work delegation; timely decision; cross functional and management communication; obtain & give required approvals; implement lessons learned; project presentations & monitoring; Team's target setting and KPIs monitoring, etc

Project tracking and timely review at different project phases such as benchmarking, design detailing, prototype, validation, etc to ensure it's in time completion as planned.

Plan the required annual budget and obtain the approvals. Track the budget utilization throughout the year Participate in customer's and supplier's meeting for competitive analysis to identify opportunities for new product features.

Plan and systemize the review mechanism to ensure the data quality before releasing it to internal and/or external agencies. Ensure the data confidentiality and data security

Your Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical/Automobile) Hands on experience of 10-12 years in the area of product design wrt it's concept, detailing, calculations and optimization.

Hands on experience in design & PM software's such as ProE/Creo/ANSYS/Windchill/SAP

Leadership experience of 6-8 years in administrating the engineering team Strong technical background in handling the automotive components.

Experience in clutch, clutch release system, primary & secondary drive tensioners, Bearings would be prefered.

Proficient in spoken and written English. Any Asian and/or German language would be appreciated

Proficient in interpersonal decision making and communication skill Hands on experience in MS Office in particular to MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams Good understanding/knowledge about manufacturing processes such as Stamping, Heat treatment, casting, Machining, Injection moulding, etc
