Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Production Technology Engineer – Hard Turning to support, optimize, and develop hard turning manufacturing processes. The role focuses on process stability, quality improvement, tool and parameter optimization, and the introduction of new technologies into serial production. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise in machining with a practical, problem-solving mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimize, and standardize hard turning processes for high-precision components.
  • Support the industrialization of new products and processes from prototype to serial production.
  • Analyze process capability, cycle times, scrap, and cost drivers to improve productivity and quality.
  • Select, test, and optimize cutting tools, fixtures, machine settings, and process parameters.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives in machining, quality, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, tool engineering, and R&D teams.
  • Prepare and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and technical reports.
  • Support root cause analysis for deviations and customer complaints related to hard turning processes.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and manufacturing standards.

Your Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Technology, or a related field
  • Several years of experience in machining technology, preferably with focus on hard turning
  • Strong understanding of:
    • CNC machining processes
    • Tool wear mechanisms
    • Surface finish and dimensional accuracy
    • Process capability analysis
    • Fixture and clamping concepts
  • Experience with production troubleshooting and process optimization
  • Proficiency in technical documentation and data analysis
  • Good command of English; additional language skills are an advantage
  • External applicants must be authorized to work in the US without employment visa or other sponsorship

 

Preferred:

  • Experience in high-volume or automotive manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC), Six Sigma, or lean manufacturing
  • Knowledge of CAD/CAM systems and CNC programming
  • Experience working with precision parts such as bearings, shafts, gears, or hardened components
  • Project management experience
