Your Key Responsibilities
Tasks
- Create the mechanical structure and architecture of products and systems.
- Break down the product structure into subsystems and individual components.
- Define and document mechanical interfaces.
- Create detailed mechanical designs using 3D models and technical drawings.
- Check whether existing systems, components, and design solutions can be reused.
- Develop, compare, and test alternative design concepts.
- Evaluate designs about performance, cost, schedule, and feasibility.
- Ensure the compatibility, permissibility, and availability of selected materials.
- Apply appropriate risk-analysis measures during the design process.
- Maintain traceability between the detailed design and the overall mechanical system concept.
- Review and process change requests affecting the detailed design.
- Document, release, and manage design data in the relevant configuration-management system.
- Consider material designations, revision status, version control, and storage locations when managing product data.

- Provide technical statements regarding the feasibility of requirements.
- Access relevant product requirements and the approved mechanical concept or architecture.
- Evaluate calculation results and test results in relation to mechanical design.
- Recommend design alternatives based on technical, cost, schedule, material, and risk considerations.
- Initiate or contribute to design changes and change-request evaluations within the applicable processes.
- Use designated design, documentation, and configuration-management tools in accordance with company procedures.

- Own the quality and technical integrity of assigned mechanical designs.
- Ensure that designs satisfy defined requirements and applicable standards.
- Ensure that selected materials and manufacturing approaches are technically suitable.
- Ensure that design risks are identified and addressed appropriately.
- Maintain consistency between the mechanical architecture, detailed design, drawings, and product documentation.
- Ensure accurate configuration management, revision control, and design traceability.
- Support the evaluation of calculations, tests, and design alternatives.
- Deliver design outputs in accordance with agreed performance, cost, quality, and schedule targets.
- Ensure that design changes are reviewed, documented, and implemented in a controlled manner.
- Take responsibility for the assigned mechanical-design activities throughout the relevant product-development phase.

- Product knowledge relevant to the assigned mechanical systems or components.
- Knowledge of mechanical design methods and design tools.
- Ability to create and interpret 3D models and technical drawings.

Qualifications
- Very good knowledge of English, both written and spoken
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical design methods and experience using relevant CAD/design tools.
- Ability to produce and interpret detailed 3D models and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and practical design-for-manufacturing principles.
- Knowledge of engineering materials, including their compatibility, permitted use, and availability.
- Understanding of mechanical and/or mechatronic system architectures and interfaces.
- Familiarity with risk-analysis methods used in product development.
- Knowledge of applicable engineering, product, and design standards.
- Relevant professional experience in mechanical product development or detailed mechanical design is preferred.
